Discovering 1920s and 1930s Crafts:
Step back into the vibrant world of 1920s and 30s craft and design at Braintree Museum.
This hands-on CPD session compliments the vibrant ‘Art Deco and Beyond’ exhibition and explores the colours, patterns and materials that defined the decade, focussing on the everyday homemade creations.
The session will include a couple of simple, classroom-ready craft activities inspired by the era; marbling and ragging.
- Marbling – learn how to do it and make your own sheet of marbled paper. Once you learn the technique it can be applied to many surfaces and items.
- Ragging – start a rag wreath with fabric scraps and learn how people would repurpose and recycle scraps of fabric into items for the home.
